Leading Electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure company and charge point operator Weev has ‘brought the power’ to Co Derry with a new rapid charging hub in Dungiven.

Based at the Glór Dhún Geimhin cultural centre, the 50kW charging facility just off the A6 will provide much needed infrastructure close to one of Northern Ireland’s main arterial routes.

Commenting on the installation, Thomas O’Hagan, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Weev, said:

“Our new charging hub along the popular A6 route provides the perfect stopping point for the many visitors who make their way towards Derry/Londonderry, enabling vehicle batteries to be charged in under an hour.

“It is the latest phase in our growing network across Northern Ireland and beyond as we partner with businesses, community groups and others to bring forward new infrastructure where it is needed most.”

Maria Mullan, Glór Dhún Geimhin, added:

“We are pleased to welcome the installation of the new EV charging hub at our vibrant community centre.

“This initiative, in collaboration with Weev, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainability and the transition towards a greener future.

“Dungiven is a busy village and with our close proximity to the A6, this charging hub not only serves our local residents but also extends a welcoming hand to EV drivers passing through.”

Glór Dhún Geimhin provides a range of community activities including Irish language classes, youth club, music workshops and artistic and cultural activities for everyone in the community.

Glór also provides a state-of-the-art venue for other voluntary organisations in the town as well as businesses and private functions.

The installation is the latest stage in Weev’s multi-million-pound investment programme that will see thousands of charging points installed over the coming years.
